Nugent Park INSTRUCTOR: NWTA Director, Mike Thornton & his staff including Licensed NWSC Select coaches and experienced players. Frequently asked Questions and info About the First Kicks Program: The First Kicks program is a unique opportunity to introduce your child to soccer. This program will offer six 45-minute sessions once a week for you and your child. You both will have fun working with NorthWest Training Staff, NWSC Select Soccer, and High School Players. The coaching staff will present basic ball skills, coordination games. It will give your child a great start to this lifetime sport. It will also prepare them for U-6 Recreational Soccer. Q: How do I know if my child is ready? A: It’s hard to have set criteria to determine if your child is ready. If they are ready for pre-school then they will be ready for First Kicks. If they can run and laugh, then they are ready. Q: What will we do in this program? A: The program is set up for you to work one on one with your child. It is a fun learning environment. There will be a series of games and exercises, which are not long in duration. This is due to their short attention span. Q: Will there be teams and games? A: There are no set teams. The NorthWest Training Academy Staff will introduce some 8-minute scrimmages (you get to sit out of the scrimmages). They will play 3 against 3, most of the time, with emphasis on each player having fun. The 3 against 3 will help prepare them for U-6.
